Celadon Tea Sets: A World-Renowned Cultural Card for International Exchange
The charm of celadon tea sets is not confined to China. As an envoy of cultural exchange, they stepped onto the world stage at an early date and earned extremely high acclaim.

As early as the Song Dynasty, with the prosperity of overseas trade, Longquan celadon had been exported to Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, and even the east coast of Africa via the Maritime Silk Road.

At the end of the 16th century, when the first batch of Longquan celadon arrived in Europe, especially in France, its mysterious and exquisite turquoise glaze caused an immediate sensation throughout France. At that time, the French were fascinated by a popular drama titled The Shepherdess, in which the leading character Celadon wore a beautiful and noble blue-green robe. Finding ordinary words inadequate to name such magical porcelain, they unanimously called Longquan celadon “Celadon.” This elegant name has survived in France and across Europe to this day as a refined alias for Longquan celadon.

Many world-famous museums, such as the Topkapı Palace Museum in Istanbul, house extensive collections of ancient Chinese celadon as national treasures. In Japan, there are even special pavilions built exclusively for preserving celadon, which are only open to the public during cherry blossom seasons or for receiving distinguished guests.

With artistic beauty that transcends language and national boundaries, celadon tea sets have become a precious gift that the Chinese nation has presented to the world, narrating the touching stories of the ancient Orient.
